Single-phase duodenary high-entropy fluorite/pyrochlore oxides with an order-disorder transition

چکیده

Improved thermomechanical properties have been reported for various high-entropy oxides containing typically five metal cations. This study further investigates a series of duodenary (11 metals + oxygen) by mixing different fractions five-cation fluorite-structured niobate and seven-cation pyrochlore (both Yb) with matching lattice constants. Nine compositions examined. All them exhibit single phases either disordered fluorite or ordered structure. An order-disorder transition (ODT) is evident changing composition, accompanied reduction in thermal conductivity (k). In comparison the ODT criteria developed from ternary oxides, these are more prone to disorder, but still controlled similar factors (but at thresholds). Interestingly, there abrupt increases Young's modulus (E) low concentrations near both endmembers. The E/k ratios increased, suggests new route tailor ceramics via controlling cation ordering vs. disordering.

Phase Transition in Mixed Transition Metal Oxides under High Pressure

Mixed crystals can be categorized as the crystal in which two or more different types of atoms are present and configured. These atoms interact each other in the influence of Coulomb force of attraction and the presence of short range repulsion force. Due to this interaction they tends to be arranged in equilibrium state and forms new material. A pure crystal can be doped by impurities with pro...

EFFECT OF THE NEXT-NEAREST NEIGHBOR INTERACTION ON THE ORDER-DISORDER PHASE TRANSITION

In this work, one and two-dimensional lattices are studied theoretically by a statistical mechanical approach. The nearest and next-nearest neighbor interactions are both taken into account, and the approximate thermodynamic properties of the lattices are calculated. The results of our calculations show that: (1) even though the next-nearest neighbor interaction may have an insignificant ef...

High-order Phase Transition in Random Hypergrpahs

In this paper, we study the high-order phase transition in random r-uniform hypergraphs. For a positive integer n and a real p ∈ [0, 1], let H := H(n, p) be the random r-uniform hypergraph on the vertex set [n], where each r-set is an edge with probability p independently. For 1 ≤ s ≤ r − 1 and two s-sets S and S, we say S is connected to S if there is a sequence of alternating s-sets and edges...

Entropy, Order and Disorder

Entropy is one of the few physical properties of a system that cannot be measured directly, but must be deduced or calculated from other properties. It is also a property that has been defined in a rather abstract sense and has not been connected to another observable property or physical variable. Since its formulation as a thermodynamic property, entropy has been linked to the concepts of ord...

A single order-disorder transition generates tension during the Huxley-Simmons phase 2 in muscle.

Increasing temperature was used to progressively interconvert non-force-generating into force-generating states in skinned rabbit psoas muscle fibers contracting isometrically. Laser temperature-jump and length-jump experiments were used to characterize tension generation in the time domain of the Huxley-Simmons phase 2. In our experiments, phase 2 is subdivisible into two kinetic steps each wi...
